Interleukin-6 in serum

Description

A cytokine that has many biological effects not only on the immune system, but also on other organs and tissues of the body. The main function of IL-6 in the regulation of immunity is its stimulation of B-lymphocyte proliferation and immunoglobulin production by them. IL-6 is capable of inducing the synthesis of acute phase proteins (C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, etc.), stimulating hematopoiesis (blood cell formation), and causing an increase in body temperature. This cytokine participates in the growth processes of nerve fibers and is capable of regulating the synthesis of certain hormones (vasopressin, somatotropin, thyroid hormones). The amount of IL-6 in the blood is an important prognostic factor for ovarian cancer and acute pancreatitis. The study of the amount of interleukin-6 in cell culture allows drawing a conclusion about the synthesis activity of this cytokine by lymphocytes, as well as determining the role of IL-6 in the corresponding reactions of cellular immunity.
Indications for use:
1. In combination with other tests to assess immune status in infectious diseases, oncopathology.
2. In combination with other tests to assess immune status in autoimmune diseases.
3. In combination with other tests for acute pancreatitis.
