Description
Hereditary liver diseases lead to the early development of hepatitis and chronic liver failure. Their cause is aberrations in genes encoding enzymes or transport proteins involved in metabolic processes in the liver. The most common genetic causes of liver pathology include classic hemochromatosis, Wilson-Konovalov disease, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, and the I148M polymorphism in the PNPLA3 gene in various diffuse liver diseases. Molecular genetic diagnostics allows significantly reducing the frequency of invasive diagnostic interventions.
