Description
Tissue examination using special reagents based on the antigen-antibody principle. Ki-67 is a marker of proliferative activity of a tumor cell. It is evaluated in percentage and shows what percentage of tumor cells are actively dividing. It is a prognostic factor for tumor disease and the tumor's response to chemotherapeutic treatment. The lower the Ki-67 index, the worse the tumor responds to chemotherapeutic treatment (and vice versa). Low expression level of smooth muscle actin in the stroma of neoplasms and in vessel walls is characteristic of poorly differentiated cancers and tumors with higher metastatic potential.
LOCALIZATION OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL: tissue sample (biopsy specimen) of a tumor formation of the uterine wall.
