Description
A complex test - determination of tumor markers - used in the diagnosis of gastric cancer; the determined tumor marker CA 19-9, associated with cancer pathologies, and the specific antigen CA 72-4, produced in large quantities by malignant tumors of glandular tissue, such as gastric carcinoma, are examined together with another tumor marker - CEA - carcinoembryonic antigen, for greater diagnostic value. The study is informative when there is a suspicion of cancer of the organ, for the purpose of monitoring the patient's condition after radical surgery, to ensure that the tumor was completely removed during the partial stomach resection; to predict the likelihood of disease recurrence; and for monitoring the effectiveness of the ongoing antitumor therapy.
