Description
An enzyme contained in the cytoplasm of almost all body cells. LDH participates in glucose oxidation processes during the final stages of the Krebs cycle. It has several varieties, each of which is predominantly localized in specific body tissues (heart, liver, kidneys). The enzyme is of high diagnostic value in myocardial infarction and liver diseases.
