Description
Leptin is a hormone produced in fat cells. It regulates body weight by suppressing appetite. In obese people, excess leptin leads to suppression of insulin secretion and causes resistance (insensitivity) of skeletal muscles and adipose tissue to insulin action, and also suppresses insulin action on liver cells, which leads to an even greater increase in glucose levels in type II diabetes. Therefore, leptin determination is indicated for type II diabetes and/or obesity. In addition, high leptin levels create a high probability of thrombosis.
Indications for use:
1. In a complex of studies for the diagnosis of type II diabetes mellitus;
2. Assessment of the risk of developing thrombosis of cerebral and coronary arteries.
This test is usually prescribed with:
[06-015] Glucose in plasma
[06-115] Glucose in urine
[08-026] Insulin
[03-016] Coagulogram No. 3 (PI, INR, fibrinogen, ATIII, APTT, D-dimer)
Period of execution
Within 9 days. The specified time does not include the day of biomaterial collection
