Description
Metanephrine is a metabolite of adrenaline produced under the action of catechol-O-methyltransferase. It is a marker of pheochromocytoma, neuroblastoma (in children), and ganglioneuroma. Normetanephrine is an intermediate product of norepinephrine metabolism produced under the action of catechol-O-methyltransferase. It is a marker of pheochromocytoma – a catecholamine-secreting tumor.
