Description
This is a microscopic examination of a smear from the female urogenital organs. Material is collected from three sites: the vagina, the cervical canal of the uterine cervix (a narrow canal connecting the uterine cavity with the vagina), and the urethra (a tube connecting the urinary bladder to the external environment), which allows for more accurate determination of the inflammation site.
The examination allows assessing the composition of the microflora of the female urogenital tract, including detecting a number of specific pathogens, such as fungi of the genus Candida, trichomonads, and gonococci, as well as determining the source of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs.
A smear for flora is not indicated for women without complaints and symptoms unless an intrauterine intervention is planned. Disturbed microflora balance can restore itself and does not require treatment in the absence of symptoms.
