Description
According to scientific hypotheses, depressive disorders occur due to a deficiency of noradrenaline and/or serotonin in certain brain structures. For the purpose of treating these pathological conditions, "mood-improving" drugs - thymoleptics - are used. Mirtazapine is a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic tetracyclic antidepressant, which can be used as a sedative (anxiolytic), hypnotic, orexigenic, antiemetic, and antihistamine agent. The drug is classified as a central agonist of alpha-2-adrenergic receptors, however, its influence on serotonin, dopamine, H1 (histamine), and some other receptors is known.
