Description
Laboratory examination aimed at identifying liver dysfunction during long-term use of biologically active supplements or medications. Drug-induced (toxic) liver injury can be caused by excessive, uncontrolled intake of herbal remedies, dietary supplements, biologically active food supplements, or medications. Liver injuries resulting from the use of medicinal products are often the cause of acute liver failure. During long-term use of medications or biologically active supplements, it is necessary to regularly monitor laboratory liver function parameters. The examination is recommended: - for regular screening and diagnosis of toxic liver injury when taking biologically active supplements or medications; - with constant use of medications for chronic diseases; - with long-term simultaneous use of several drugs; - when taking medicinal products or supplements that have high hepatotoxicity (herbal remedies, immunomodulators, antiplatelet agents, antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), cytostatics); - during exposure to chemical substances capable of causing liver damage (industrial chemicals, solvents); - in the presence of risk factors for toxic liver injury (chronic liver diseases, older age, genetic mutations affecting liver enzyme function).
