Bone Matrix Formation Marker P1NP

Description

P1NP is a fragment of the type I collagen precursor, which is the main indicator of bone tissue formation activity. In bone diseases accompanied by impaired bone tissue metabolism and the ratio of resorption and bone matrix formation processes, the production of type I collagen and, accordingly, P1NP increases. The study is used for: • Determining baseline indicators of bone tissue formation activity before starting therapy; • evaluating the effectiveness of antiresorptive therapy for osteoporosis; • monitoring patients receiving Teriparatide treatment (parathyroid hormone analog); • monitoring the condition of bone tissue in patients with osteoporosis, Paget's disease, and tumor metastases in bones; • assessing the activity of metastatic bone lesions and predicting survival.
