Vistara Non-Invasive Prenatal Test - Screening for 25 Monogenic Syndromes

Description

Vistara checks for 25 genetic diseases using the baby's DNA in the mother's blood. This is a screening test, which means that Vistara does not provide a definitive diagnosis. A positive Vistara screening result means that the pregnancy may be affected by the condition that triggered the positive screening result. However, it is not possible to know for sure if the child has this disease based solely on the screening results. If the test results are positive, a consultation with a geneticist is indicated.

If a risk of a monogenic disease is identified, a special delivery management plan and preparation for the management of the child's early neonatal period are required (for example, avoiding instrumental delivery to prevent fractures, performing early neonatal corrective surgery).

This study is performed using blood from the mother's vein even before the baby is born, starting from the 9th-10th week of pregnancy. The test is possible only for singleton pregnancies.

The Vistara test is not performed:

- if the mother has one of the genetic pathologies investigated within the Vistara test;
- in twin pregnancies;
- in twin pregnancies where one fetus has died;
- if the mother has a malignant neoplasm currently or in the past;
- after organ and bone marrow transplantation,
- if the mother has had a blood transfusion within the last month.
