Description
General urinalysis is a combination of various diagnostic tests aimed at determining the general properties of urine, as well as its physicochemical and microscopic examination. At the same time, such indicators as color, smell, transparency, reaction (pH), density, protein, glucose, ketone bodies, bilirubin, and its metabolic products in urine are determined. The presence of cellular elements, as well as salts, is determined in the urine sediment.
The elements of urinary sediment are divided into 2 groups: organic (cellular elements) and inorganic (various salts); the study of organic sediment elements is of greater practical (diagnostic) importance. The main method for examining urine sediment is the microscopic study of native preparations with an assessment of the content of formed elements in the microscope field of view.
