Description
A complex molecular genetic test that allows detecting the genetic material of the most likely pathogens of acute intestinal infections in feces and establishing the etiology of the disease. Acute intestinal infections (AII) are a group of diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites, characterized by a fecal-oral transmission mechanism. Common transmission factors for these infections are food products, water, infected household items, and dirty hands. The first symptoms appear a few hours or days after infection, beginning acutely with the onset of frequent loose stools, vomiting, abdominal pain, and signs of intoxication (fever, chills, nausea). The disease may be aggregate in nature and manifest in several people who consumed infected food or water. When is the analysis prescribed?
• In the presence of symptoms of acute gastroenteritis of probable infectious etiology (frequent loose stools, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain);
• with the simultaneous or sequential development of AII in several family members, children in a childcare facility, or inpatients;
• suspected development of a nosocomial intestinal infection (with exacerbation of enterocolitis symptoms in a patient undergoing treatment for AII).
