Description
Familial hypercholesterolemia is a group of hereditary diseases characterized by excessive production or impaired utilization of cholesterol and low- and very low-density lipoproteins, leading to the early formation and accelerated progression of atherosclerosis and associated cardiovascular diseases. This test involves the investigation of the LDLR, APOB, PCSK9, and LDLRAP1 genes, aberrations in which can cause the development of familial hypercholesterolemia, using the NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) method, and is the most accurate and modern method for diagnosing this disease.
