Culture for aerobic and facultative anaerobic flora with antibiotic susceptibility testing and determination of minimum inhibitory concentration

Description

This is a microbiological test that allows determining the qualitative and quantitative composition of the microflora of the examined biomaterial, including the detection of conditionally pathogenic microorganisms and determining their susceptibility to antibiotics. Unlike other microbiological tests, antibiotic susceptibility is determined using an automatic analyzer via the minimum inhibitory concentration method. The result is issued not only as a category of antibiotic susceptibility but also as values of minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of the antibiotic, which in turn allows the doctor to select the most effective minimum dose of the antibiotic, reducing its negative impact on the human body.

* If microorganisms constituting the normal microflora or conditionally pathogenic microorganisms in a titer lower than the diagnostic one are detected by the microbiological method, sensitivity to antibiotics is not determined, since this amount is not significant and does not require treatment with antimicrobial drugs.

* Urine culture is performed on Alfred60 and HBL analyzers (ALIFAX, Italy), which, using patented technology based on laser light scattering methodology, detect with high sensitivity and specificity the presence of bacteria and their resistance to antibiotics within 6 hours from the moment the sample is set up. Therefore, a negative urine culture result can be issued in less than 1 day from the moment of placing the order.

* The set of antibiotics depends on the isolated microorganism and the commercial test system, which is currently provided by the manufacturer in accordance with modern recommendations "Clinical guidelines for determining the sensitivity of microorganisms to antimicrobial drugs 2021-01" and is available for purchase in this region.
