Description
Intestinal yersiniosis is an acute infectious disease with a fecal-oral mechanism of transmission. It affects the gastrointestinal tract, liver, musculoskeletal system, and other organs. It occurs everywhere. Yersinia bacteria are resistant to environmental factors and can persist in the environment for a long time.
At temperatures of +4—1-8°C, the microbes can persist for a long time and multiply on various food products.
Indications for bacteriological examination of biological material include the need to examine:
- patients with acute intestinal infections (AII) for diagnostic purposes;
- persons in contact with patients with AII for epidemic indications;
- convalescents to monitor treatment and detect bacterial carriage.
There are no contraindications to the use of the method.
