Description
Beta-CrossLaps are C-terminal telopeptides formed during the degradation of type 1 collagen, which constitutes more than 90% of the organic bone matrix. Measurement of Beta-CrossLaps in urine allows assessment of the degradation rates of relatively "old" bone tissue. With pathological increase in bone resorption (elderly age, osteoporosis), type 1 collagen degrades in large volumes, leading to an increased level of collagen fragments in urine.
Indications for use:
1. Diagnosis of osteoporosis;
2. Determination of the risk of developing osteoporosis;
3. Monitoring during menopause and postmenopause;
4. Monitoring during hormone replacement therapy;
5. Assessment of the effectiveness of osteoporosis therapy.
