Description
Antibodies belonging to the antinuclear factor group and antibodies to extractable nuclear antigen appear in the blood in many autoimmune connective tissue diseases. The examination is used to identify connective tissue diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic collagenoses, polyarteritis nodosa, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, SLE-like form of rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjögren's syndrome.
