Description
Aspergillus fumigatus and Penicillium notatum fungi are most often isolated in house dust and indoor air, and in smaller quantities – Cladosporium herbarum, Alternaria tenuis, and Candida albicans. Aspergillus fumigatus and Penicillium notatum reproduce year-round, so the number of their spores does not change significantly over time. The molds presented in the panel actively colonize damp rooms, bathrooms, toilets, plumbing, old furniture, spoiled food, and organic waste, which is important to know to exclude the source of allergy for a person sensitized to this allergen. There are also occupational risk factors for the development of fungal allergy: among agricultural workers, miners, brewers, subway workers, tobacco factory workers, librarians, pharmacists, microbiologists, and workers in industries where fungi are used in technological processes. As a rule, fungi affect the respiratory tract and cause severe allergic diseases, such as perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, bronchial asthma, and are also the cause of about a third of exacerbations of atopic dermatitis. Determination of specific IgG in the blood primarily indicates that one or more allergens of the panel are entering the body; in addition, it is believed that an increased concentration of specific IgG in the blood contributes to a decrease in the manifestations of immediate-type allergic reactions mediated by IgE and the formation of delayed-type hypersensitivity.
