Description
Pollen allergy is the most common type of allergy, which, as a rule, is seasonal and coincides with the flowering periods of plants to whose pollen there is sensitization. Timothy grass, Alternaria alternata (tenuis), birch, and mugwort are distributed in the same geographical latitude, bloom at approximately the same time (May – July), and cross-allergic reactions to the pollen of these plants occur very frequently – these are the main reasons why these allergens are collected in one panel. Allergy is manifested by profuse lacrimation, nasal discharge; less often by skin manifestations; in severe cases by attacks of suffocation, urticaria, Quincke's edema, seasonal pollen dermatitis with severe itching and various rashes. Determination of specific IgG in the blood primarily indicates that the allergen is entering the body; in addition, it is believed that an increased concentration of specific IgG in the blood contributes to the reduction of manifestations of immediate-type allergic reactions mediated by IgE.
