Food allergen mixture No. 1 (IgE): peanut, almond, hazelnut, coconut, Brazil nut

Description

Nuts, as an etiological factor of food allergy, are classified as having a high degree of allergenic activity (without taking into account individual characteristics). Peanut, almond, hazelnut, coconut, and Brazil nut are very often used in the manufacture of confectionery, therefore, if there is a sensitization to these allergens, it is necessary to avoid eating such foods. With an allergy to a certain type of nut, a cross-allergic reaction to other types of nuts often occurs. This study allows determining the presence of sensitization of the body to the presented allergens and thereby identifying possible cross-allergic reactions to the panel allergens. Manifestations of allergy can include dysfunction of the digestive system (cheilitis, gastritis, colitis, gastroenteritis), skin manifestations (atopic dermatitis, urticaria, Quincke's edema), and dysfunction of the respiratory system (allergic rhinitis, asthma). An allergic reaction to nuts can often proceed in the form of a severe attack of bronchial asthma.

* Allergological studies containing the phrase "allergen mixture" in their name imply a complex screening test that allows detecting sensitization (hypersensitivity of the body) to a specific group of allergens. Moreover, the result of this study is issued generally for the mixture of allergens, and not for each specific allergen included in this group.
