Description
Active trace element, enters the human body with food. It is present in the skeleton, liver, kidneys, blood (largely in erythrocytes), and other human tissues. The physiological role of antimony is not sufficiently studied, however, it is known that antimony forms bonds with sulfur atoms, which causes its high toxicity. It is excreted from the body quite slowly, predominantly with urine.
Increased levels are observed in: acute and chronic intoxications.
