Cytological examination of hormonal status allows timely diagnosis of menstrual function disorders in women, threatened miscarriage, and objective assessment of the effectiveness of hormonal therapy. The method is based on studying the degree of proliferation of the vaginal mucosa, which depends primarily on the influence of ovarian steroid hormones.
When delivering biological material to the diagnostic center, it is necessary to inform the administrator of the following additional clinical information:
• Clinical diagnosis
• Therapeutic measures taken (hormone therapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, antibiotics)
• Localization of biomaterial
• Start and end dates of the menstrual cycle
• Start date of uterine (physiological or pathological) bleeding (if present)
