Description
The examination is carried out for the purpose of primary laboratory detection of the virus in the body and includes the determination of both specific antibodies and viral RNA in the blood. As a rule, in the acute form, hepatitis C proceeds much easier than hepatitis B. But an unpleasant feature of this disease is its frequent transition to a chronic form, which remains unrecognized for a long time, which over time can cause severe liver damage. On average, from the moment of infection to the stage of chronic hepatitis, it takes from 5 to 10 years. During the period of clinically expressed symptoms, fatigue, lethargy, malaise, decreased ability to work, poor sleep, a feeling of heaviness in the right hypochondrium may be noted. The source of infection are patients with hepatitis C and carriers of the virus in a latent form.
The examination results are issued with a doctor's interpretation.
