Description
HLA (Major Histocompatibility Complex) is a complex of genes encoding specific proteins located on the surface of almost all body cells and responsible for the recognition of these cells by the immune system as "self". Currently, a link has been established between many diseases and various variants of HLA genes. The presence of HLA-B27 is associated with a predisposition to rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis (e.g., Reiter's syndrome), Bechterew's disease, and allergic reactions to the use of certain medications.
