Description
The presence of the V600E mutation in the BRAF gene is a predictor of response to combined targeted therapy with BRAF/MEK tyrosine kinase inhibitors in patients with resectable and unresectable stage III and stage IV cutaneous melanoma, in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer, and in patients with metastatic thyroid cancer. Also, testing for the presence of the V600E mutation in the BRAF gene is recommended for the diagnosis of thyroid cancer and for postoperative risk stratification of thyroid cancer recurrence in order to determine postoperative patient management tactics.
