Description
The presence of a mutation in the c-KIT gene is a predictor of response to imatinib therapy in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (in unresectable tumors, recurrence, or metastatic disease) and in patients with cutaneous melanomas, mucosal melanomas, and acral lentiginous melanomas (stages III (unresectable) and IV).
